It was the fact that these lights use LEDs (you can read more about LEDs here) that first interested me in them (and, okay, that they are available in my favorite color - purple
). But after reading more about them, I kept coming up with more and more ways these cute little lights could be useful.

Sylvania says these are “the world’s first LED light with stick-to-it-iveness” - little lights you can stick, as they say, practically anywhere.
At first they reminded me of the push lights that we used to see in infomercials. You know, the ones that are about five inches across and had a domed top that you push to turn on and off. You also push on the top to turn the DOT-it lights on and off. But the push lights were large and dim; quite perfect for a night-use light in a kid’s room (not necessarily as a night light, though).
But these are quite the opposite: small and bright.
This light is small enough to actually use in deep drawers or poorly-lit cabinetry. Sylvania recommends you also use it in your car (ever tried looking for a dropped toy or some lost change under the seat?), for recreation (they mention the tackle box, but I think it would make a great light in a tent), in the garage, in the dorm, in kids’ closets, and on bikes (I love that one!
). They also suggest putting it on your kids’ backpacks, but I think it would be very useful in backpacks… and purses and diaper bags ! Then it would no longer be necessary to completely empty the bag to find the one (tiny) thing you’re looking for.
They also stick where you want to use them, instead of you having to put a nail or screw into the wall (and they use 3M adhesive so you can remove it and securely place it in the next useful spot, if I understand correctly  ).

The manufacturer says they will stick it to almost any surface:
- fabric
- leather
- plastic
- glass
- fiberglass and more
They require 3 AAA batteries, which ARE included, and can be purchased at hardware stores and drugstores among others (you can see their list of retailers here ).
Being that it’s two days away from Halloween, I’ve got another idea for you. Get a cloth headband that will fit your child’s (or your) head around the circumference. Stick the light on to it and put it on at their forehead - instant head lamp! Now instead of having to carry a flashlight, they’ll have a hand free - either to hold your hand or to help them maneuver through the crowds of kids in the neighborhood. And all the other kids will marvel at it ‘cuz it will look really cool.
And if you have time and some creativity, you can even make it part of the costume… spelunker? coal miner? Have fun with it!!
