In college I had a roommate who was obsessive about dolphins (hi, Marcia!). Her bedroom walls were wallpapered - literally - with pictures of dolphins. She lived, breathed, and ate dolphins (okay, she didn’t actually eat dolphins, but I’m saying that she loved dolphins to the core of her being ;-) ).
So I know she’ll be one of the first to buy (if she doesn’t have to be a millionare :-D) when the Innespace Dolphin is ready for the consumer market.

From their site:
These positively buoyant vessels use their forward momentum and the downward lift of their wings to literally fly below the water’s surface. This radical departure from the typical method of sinking below the surface allows the Dolphins to achieve an unparrallelled level of freestyle performance.
Doesn’t that just make your heart race? Does your spirit just long for the experience of swimming like this amazing animal?
Unfortunately, it’ll be a long time before these will be available for people to buy. :-( They don’t even mention that option on their site. But it is possible for you to see it on tour!
It typically performs at boat shows and race meets, and does real dolphin tricks like dives, jumps, and barrel rolls. You’ll only be able to watch it at this point, but in the near future you might even be able to experience the thrill of swimming like a dolphin:
At this stage, we are not offering rides for pilots or passengers. However, wth the completion of our new two seater Dolphin, we will offer people the chance to experience the thrill of flying underwater.
In case you won’t be near one of the demonstrations this year, or just can’t wait to see it, you can click here to see a short video on The Science Channel.
Oh, I know I’d jump at the chance if the opportunity were presented to me. I don’t even have to ask Marcia.
