Use A Dead Fish To Pull Your Pots Out Of The Oven

November 3rd, 2006 · No Comments

Toss out your cloth oven mitts and replace them with these silicone HOT HEADS by [tag]Worldwide Fred[/tag].
HOT HEADS

How are they better than the cloth mitts you’ve been using all your life?

  • they are heat resistant (up to 446 degrees) - they won’t scald like your cloth ones will
  • they are “grippy”, not slippery like your cloth
  • you can toss them in the dishwasher when they get dirty, instead of having to wash them in the washing machine like your cloth
  • they are smaller than your cloth, fitting better into your drawers (your kitchen drawers  )
  • they’re more fun than your cloth mitts )

The dog (my favorite so far) and frog have recently been joined by a (dead) fish:

If you’re like me, the first time you use them (and maybe the next few times afterwards), you’ll be a little nervous pulling that hot pan out of the oven. You’ll quickly get used to them, however, because all you’ll feel from that super hot roasting pan is a little bit of warmth.

I do like that my cloth oven mitts protect more than my fingertips, because sometimes I use more of my hands (and arms) to control the pan and oven door. So I would like to see them come out with some that have a larger “mouth” or that are more like a traditional mitt. But these are just so much more practical that it’s worth the time it takes to be particularly careful.

And these can do double-duty! Got little kids around the house? Give them a quick puppet show while your food is in the oven! D
